Continuation by Zeronero:

The tunnels reeked with a mindblowing smell and overwhelming darkness as Simon lead Sarah, in a gloomy underworld, teeming with bugs, rodents and… corpses.
“You know, I could swear remembering that a long time ago, my Pa told me about this place… a shallow grave.” Sarah felt uneasy. “You mean a shelter and a graveyard?” Simon nodded at the girl’s realization. Simon knew that the rumors of the tunnels being an “early city” were actually true, even though most of the younger denizens of the city above denied such things. The occasional scratching noise made Sarah quite uncomfortable; she was lucky of not ending up as a street kid back in her world and hometown.

Continuation by Alex:

Sarah was being taken to the operation room. The feelings that she had were difficult to describe. The fear, then the anger, then the fear, then the cold. Every little instinct told Sarah that this was the end, that she would never walk out of it.
As she was being transported through the big library, Sarah saw an officer on the hall. He ran after the accompanying doctor that was taking her to wherever she was supposed to go. The officer made a sign, and the doctor handed Sarah to him. Now she was being taken somewhere by the policeman, Sarah felt as if she was going in a different direction.
“Listen, if you don’t get out of here, you’re going to die. You have to leave.”
Sarah looked at the officer than asked: “But how…”
“Jeremy had a note in one of his pockets, we have to leave now.”
The officer took Sarah down a staircase and then they both headed towards a grey rectangle in the wall. Sarah wanted to say something, but as she opened her mouth, she was shoved directly into the rectangle and surprisingly, she found out that the grey was a lid, which had opened and Sarah found herself falling down a chute. In a couple of instants she was in a dark place, and something came tumbling after her. The officer had probably thrown it down after Sarah had fallen down. She took it in her hand, and immediately knew what it was, as it started to blink and then shone a consistent light. It was a purple light, and in her hands she had the disk. The disk that had gotten her into all of this mess. The disk that had made her experience things that no one else had. But what was it this time?
“Hey, come Mac. Mac you comin’?
“Hold on, what is it?”
“Lookie here, we’ve got ourselves one of ‘em SVTs.”
“A traveler?”
“Yep.”
Then, as the man turned towards Sarah, he exclaimed:
“And where did you come from, missy?”
Sarah quickly replied: “From Earth, I come because I, well I…”
“Ah, so you’re lost” said the man.
“Yes, but where…” Sarah started to ask.
“In the underworld.” Replied the man. “It’s the place where all the rejects of the upperworld are. All people that they don’t like up ‘ere, they through down ‘ere. ‘Ey don’t ‘ave jails up there. This place, is like Alcatraz on Earth. I’m Simon Muller, expert in Earthology. I know things about your planet that not even you knew. So, let’s go, I know my way around these tunnels.”

Continuation by Alex and Loki:

Sarah had just woken up when she had found herself tied to a bed in a small room with only the strange man near her, the one Jeremy had bowed at.
Keral :
Hello, young lady. Do you know where you are?
Sarah :
Um, no sir. Can you… tell me?
Keral :
Do you know WHEN you are?
Sarah :
No, I don’t have a clue, just like everything else about this place.
Keral :
Hmmm… I thought so. How did you acquire your machine?
Sarah :
By walking down the street one day; I swear it was only a freak accident!
Keral :
Did you know that you have endangered all of our lives by coming here? Did you know that?
Sarah :
No, sir. But endangering? In what way have I endangered your people?
Keral :
My people? What do you think this is? Did you imagine that you come to some sort of an empire? Do you know who I am? I am merely the visionary. The one that can see into the future, and only one visionary may exist every thousand years.
Sarah :
So, basically, you’re telling me that I could’ve ripped a hole through space-time just by coming here? That’s insane!
Keral :
No, if it were that simple I wouldn’t have come here to talk to you. You bear a deadly disease to all of us. the sole reason why I am not wearing a mask is because I was infected when I first met you. Jeremy has fallen into a coma and some people that you have met have died already, including the prime librarian.
Sarah :
I’m a walking disease incubator,(sarcastically) well, your nice!
Keral :
Now the only reason you haven’t been neutralized is because we believe that you may have antibodies and that we could extract them from you, but for that we need you to be awake.
Sarah :
I hate needles. How long will it take to cure the whole populace if this proves to be a success?
Keral :
Fortunately only this city has been infected, the other three cities on our planet are still functioning. The city has been placed under quarantine.
Sarah :
Better start now before it’s too late, then will you stop grilling me?
Keral :
If you’re still alive. Medops, come here immediately!
Sarah :
(under her breath) What have I gotten myself into THIS time, (muttering to self sarcastically), Sarah, you’re a genius, way to go!

Continuation by Loki:
“The accomplishments to come for the future of Earth include engineered fire used to release oxygen and consume CO2, the planetary bridge which in theory is possible despite the drain of the Earth’s resources and the time needed and further advances for the Human Genome Project and the prevention of Transhumanism which will prevent the future human race from annihilating themselves due to extreme modifications.” It was apparent that Jeremy knew a lot about humanity’s future accomplishments despite having not been to Earth. Maybe these beings are stating that they could travel through time to see us in the future, if they wanted… That would be pretty scary, not to mention weird. The holographic displays were the only dim sources of light in the room, everything else was lit with candles.
“And how do you know all of this?” Sarah tried to check the time, but even the wristwatch ceased to work in this place. Or maybe time was nonexistent here.
“These are just possibilities, even though the first phase of the Human Genome Project is already underway on Earth.” Sarah turned around to notice that Jeremy bowed low to a figure in front of him, partially hidden in the darkness. The figure was taller and older than Jeremy, wearing robes of purple, the color associated with emperors and people of royalty. Sarah didn’t know what to do, she felt very, very awkward, just standing there motionless.
“Uh, really? I thought that maybe you guys could–”
“Forgive me, Your Worship. She isn’t from here and I thought maybe I could–” Jeremy now stood to face the leader, feeling very uncomfortable because of not teaching Sarah the customs of his world sooner.
“Teach her about our customs, yes. But you had another thing to address as well, yes?” The Leader very well about the situation of his citizens and anything else, including the rumors of an offworlder roaming in their midst, which to his surprise, proved to be true. The cold was making Sarah uncomfortable, it was penetrating through her jacket, which advertised to stop the cold from getting in. So much for even this jacket, what do they use to keep warm here? Can’t be robes or anything like that… Unfortunately the patient if slightly contemptuous man put her reverie to a halt.
“I see you have an artifact. You got it by accident on Earth, yes?” How can she get out of a situation getting more strained by the minute? She composed herself before the much respected Leader.
“Yes, I got it from Earth, something weird happening while I was walking down the street…” I don’t feel so good about this… Sarah thought to herself, she felt very dizzy in fact, before falling unconscious in front of the head of thousands of people, and a stranger-turned-guide.

Alexiana – in search of the Future

Genre: SF

Comments: Fight through with captain Joe Spark as he unravels the mysteries of the Universe while searching for Alexiana – the biggest spaceship ever built.

The story:

“Life is… a miracle,
Life is… a test,
Life is… unprotected…
Life is… rest. Life… Oh, oh, oh oooohh…”

“V, turn the music down, V…”
Terry was annoyed at all the music. All the noise! All the…
“VERONICA, can you hear me? I said: turn the music DOWN!”
Veronica quickly turned the volume key down.
“Oh, sorry, it was just too loud.” She explained.
“My point exactly!” replied Terry.

“Warning! Warning! Warning! Launch in… 5… 4… 3… 2… 1… 0. Rocket launched. “
All that Joe, Terry, Veronica and Andrei could think of was the success of the launch. In fact all they could think of was how to get the shipment on board the Yeben in time.
The Yeben was one of the larger ships that the Earth had. In fact, it was a ship with a mission of sorts. A pretty unimaginable mission, no less.
It had been build by the worlds’ most renown engineers for one purpose and one purpose only.
Joe was to be acting captain of the ship, until they would meet the rest of the crew. The crew would comprise of thirty people.
“Experiencing turbulence” said Veronica.
“V, turn the additional engines on.” Joe commanded.
“How many?” V asked.
“Four.”
“Turning on… Turned on”
The computer was by now calculating the trajectory.
“Five seconds to break off… … … You have now entered space.”
Music to everyone’s ears. Now, that they were safe, and that the cargo had not exploded, they could continue towards the Yeben to pursue the completion of their mission:
To find Alexiana, the only ship to exit the universe.

Continuation by Alex:
Sarah was astonished as the doors opened. You could feel the cold air coming out of the library. It was a strange feeling.
“Let’s go” said Alex. “Time is… well, I’ll not speak about money anymore.”
Sarah quickly followed him. Meanwhile she kept looking at some of the artifacts that were in the library.
“Shall I give you a tour?” asked Jeremy.
“Of what?” asked Sarah.
“Of our library.”
“But, aren’t there supposed to be just books in a library?” Sarah was pretty curious.
“Why of course not, libraries are made for everything that is old and, useless to most of us.” Jeremy replied.
“So this is a museum?” Sarah was impressed.
“A what?” Jeremy was looking ort of funny at her.
“Never mind, it’s a custom that we have on Earth.”
As they were passing by one of the sections, Sarah stopped.
“What is it”, asked Jeremy.
“What are these”, asked Sarah as she was looking at some disks that seemed to be very old, but looked quite familiar, they were almost like the disk she had.
“These?”, Jeremy started, “these are some of the old crystal disks, that we used for vector space travel.”. Jeremy stopped for a couple of seconds and looked at them, almost admiring their apparent antiquity and then proceeded. “These. Obsolete, that’s what they are. Who uses those any more?”
“I do.” Said Sarah quietly.
“What?” Jeremy looked like he’d seen a ghost.
Sarah took the disk out of her pocket.
“Here it is. This is what got me here. Hey hold on.” Sarah looked scared. “How come I have this if I put it in the computer?”
Jeremy took the disk, looked at it and was intrigued.
“So, you didn’t come here through some… Well… I thought you…” Then he stopped for a while, recollecting his thoughts.
“Well have to go to the Leader.” Jeremy looked almost severe.
Sarah did not know what to expect. All she knew was that she wanted answers, but Jeremy interrupted her.
“First, let me show you what accomplishments are yet to come on Earth, probably, you never know what things people can invent.”
Sarah looked around. OK, this was going to be a nice intellectual round, she could deal with that.

Continuation by Loki:
“Are you alright, missy? What’s your name, by the way?” This Jeremy looked trustworthy enough to Sarah who thought about relying on him for the time being to learn about the world she stumbled in, lest she embarrass herself in public. Sarah was still a little shaken from the moving trees incident that happened earlier.
“Y-yeah, I’m fine. My name is Sarah.” She could feel the eyes of the wandering locals on her back as Jeremy led her to a more busy part of the environment with many gleaming towers of colored crystal, glass and metal–the entity known as the city.
“As you know by now, my name is Jeremy and we are going to the city before doing anything else here.” Sarah’s eyes lit up and fell at once at though of going in the beautiful and sprawling metropolis with it’s floating welcoming signs and omnipresent holographic adverts of foreign products she haven’t heard of.
“But we don’t have any money to start wi–” Jeremy winked at her and produced a bag that jingled its contents and opened it to show her.
“Who’d thought that we would be walking penniless?” Jeremy hooted with laughter at her sadness, making her feel for once in her life, happy. “and anyway, anything you have as coinage can be converted at the Ofeirryan City Center despite being a little… obsolete. The sight of the towers and monuments they walked under in the daylight made Sarah dizzy, but amazed at how they made the building without destroying the surrounding environment.
“First we’re going to convert the cash you have into our currency, then we’re going to the Great Library and then we’ll go shopping. Better start blending in earlier than later, I’d say. So, how did you find out about vector space travel, I thought they didn’t have that on Earth, yet?” Jeremy’s optimism and cheeriness went non-stop. Sarah was stung at the reminder of her Earth at this time of the day, making Jeremy a little alarmed.
“Oh, I’m so sorry! Forgive my rudeness. I shouldn’t have asked it so suddenly since you’re still recovering from the foreignness of the moving trees and everything…” Jeremy let his gentle and welcoming voice trail off, allowing Sarah to gather herself and thoughts, take a deep breath and begin with an explanation.
“No… It’s alright. I came from Earth using this disky-gadgety thing and I didn’t know what I was doing.” The smell of the foods cooking in the street by different vendors made her stomach grumble. Everybody else thought they were playing the role of the perfect young couple as they walked, even though they weren’t holding hands at all. A big building was looming ahead of them, blanketing everything in shadow; the building itself had spindly and spiny towers and turrets. The tall and pointy spike at the center of the group of three buildings as one held a spinning, sparkly thing with something that looked like a pair of cupped, silver hands.
“A disk, you say? We can do the currency and library now at one disjointed go, it’ll be better to save the best for last, anyway.” The building, Sarah realized, was placed at the center of the city itself, like a Seventh Wonder of the World. She walked in silence as Jeremy escorted her to the library, the heavy doors bidding them welcome to the shadows and knowledge within.

Continuation by Alex:
Sarah at first was startled. She closed her eyes hoping that it would all go away in a couple of seconds.
The immense thing that she had seen was now being shot at by some sort of police squad.
“Move out of the way, girl!” shouted one of the police women. Strangely enough there were mostly women on this police squad.
“I…” Sarah didn’t get to finish her phrase when she was grabbed by the woman who had told her to move and placed in a car. the car was peculiar. The doors that it had were equipped with some sort of lights. And when the lights were on – the doors were locked. When the lights were off, only the police responsibles could enter.
Sarah was looking at the officers confronting the strange creature. The tall thing now actually looked much clearer. it seemed to be a tree, but different…
It now seemed to her as if this were a tree, a moving one. that was a pretty strange thing to comprehend for Sarah.
The police lady quickly came inside the car. the tree was doing something strange. it seemed to be moving from one place to the other. it now seemed like a chant.
“Were movin’ outta’ here! Now!” the woman yelled.
“Hold tight girl!” she said to Sarah.
The car started going at about 100 miles per hour. the speed was making Sarah feel confused. Then it stopped. Fortunately, Sarah was stopped from being knocking herself by the pillows from the car.
“Now get out! It’s safe here.” she heard the words of the police woman.
“Where am I?” asked Sarah, feeling sick from the recent speedy experience.
“Girl, have you fallen from the Moon?”
“Maam…” started Sarah in an effort to convince the police lady that she was not… local.
The woman waived some sort of device at her.
“Hold on a second” started the woman, then was quiet for a couple of moments, afterwards saying:
“Officer Jenkins, from Partol Squad 4, Everland City, New Faunshire, Great Treetain.”
“What?” Sarah asked, confused.
“You’re not from around here, you’re an SVT.” explained the officer.
“A what?” Sarah looked even more lost now.
“A Space Vector Traveller” repeated the woman.
“I…”
“Let’s go” said the woman after an instant.
“Where, I…”
Now Sarah was walking after the lady. The woman went very quickly and Sarah was barely catching up. She entered a building and Sarah came after.
Inside, there were two more people – a man, and a woman.
“Jerry, explain to this SVT where she is”
The man stood up.
“Hello, I’m Jeremy. You, missy, are in Milky Way #74, and the name of the planet is Haylie.” the man wasn’t done yet but Sarah interrupted.
“As in, the Halley comet?”
“Oh, the Halley – that’s our space recognition module.” said Jerry.
“So, you’ve known of the Earth?” Sarah was astonished.
“The Earth, oh, for ages. We just don’t get involved because your Sun’s radiation is pretty much lethal to us.”
“And those tree things that were about to attack me?”
“Oh, those were evolved plants, they can move now, sweetie.”
Sarah felt very uncomfortable. What had she gotten herself into this time?

Continuation by Loki:
It seemed as if everything was one big, weird dream. Sarah wondered if anyone else had this experience of seeing other worlds linked to their own. Could be the reverse to who was looking into our world? She thought to herself, studying the terribly scratched disc in her trembling hands once more. There were many times in her live where she had been dragged to different worlds thanks to the aid of books, video games, daydreams and the odd bunch of flashbacks, but nothing as strange as this. I’ve always wanted to get away from everything, why not take the chance while I still have one? She was quite excited of leaving her dreary and routine riddled life, no matter how long or short it would be. Her room, unlike her brother’s, was quite messy with things strewn everywhere; it was like a whirlwind had gone though during the middle of the night, but that didn’t stop her from getting a few necessities.
“Dear Mum, I’m going away today…” she said to herself as she packed a random selection of clothing, toiletries gathered from the bathroom and other things “… I might not be coming back.” She shook her head. No way can I write something like that to Mum if I’m going a place where I might be killed or never return from! Something struck her as she ran to fill a school canteen-bottle. Maybe I could write it off as a long excursion, like a camp of some sort for Biology! I might failing now, but this plan is better than nothing! She smiled to herself, feeling warm and fuzzy, despite having to leave to go to a different world anytime soon. She looked out the bedroom window, it was getting dark quickly. She closed the blinds and left the room lightless and stuck the disc into the computer very carefully.
“Just for a little while, and then I’ll come back, if I make it.” She gasped as a flash of light entered the dim room.
—-
Pain racked her body from where she fell from one of the silvery trees in the purple forest. There was thankfully, no one around. But a few long necked and mouthless tall things that resembled fleshy stalks.
“Oh, shoot!”
